Innovation

The campus as a living laboratory

Campus CIAE isn't just a LEED Platinum building. It's a permanent experiment in applied sustainability, technology transfer and desert architecture.

LEED v5 Innovation Credits

Four proposals under Tribo evaluation

LEED v5 allows additional Innovation Credits for decisions exceeding standard credits. Campus CIAE proposes four to Tribo for presentation to USGBC.

Philosophy

The building as
communication medium

Campus CIAE communicates the group's values without need for marketing. Each architectural decision translates a value into physical evidence:

  • Container reuse → circular economy
  • Own PV → coherence between sale and operation
  • Annual sculptures → art and sustainability as cycle, not event
  • Solar lab → knowledge as group asset
  • Public journal → operational transparency

This isn't replaceable with campaigns. It's built once and lived every day.

Future research

Scientific papers as permanent asset

The test slab planned for Phase 3 allows comparison in real conditions:

  • Panel technologies: monocrystalline vs polycrystalline vs bifacial.
  • Compared orientations: conventional south vs east-west vs adjustable.
  • Tilt angles: 28° (Hermosillo latitude) vs alternatives.
  • Thermal behavior of panels in extreme desert heat.
  • Degradation: longitudinal output measurement vs specifications.

In partnership with universities — UTH first, others as agreements are signed — academic papers are published and open data contributed to the field. Each published paper is a permanent Campus asset.

ESG Report

Campus joins the group annual report

Grupo Empresarial CIAE publishes annual Sustainability Report. Starting 2026, Campus CIAE joins with verifiable operational metrics: PV generation vs consumption, reused water vs total, diverted waste, earned LEED credits.

This closes the cycle: the building that materializes group coherence also contributes to holding ESG governance. Transparency is structural, not optional.
